[c] i.e. by natural selection

coz of low pollution the debris got washed out [rainfall] from the trees n trunk became light in shade..so that light colored moth were automatically opted for mimicry with tree's trunk
n dark colored moth became clearly visible n detectable by birds n other insect eaters n light colored moth became safe due to less of recognition

so white moths were favored by "natural SELECTION"
