Celcius = (5/9) * (Farenheit - 32)

(5/9)*(98.6 - 32)

37 degrees celcius

The Fahreinheit scale temperature of 32 degrees corresponds to 0 degree in centigrade. The fahrenheit scale of 212degrees corresponds to 100 degrees in centigrade. The range of 180 degrees in fahrenheit is equal to the range of 100 degrees in centigrade.

So to convert from fahrenheit to centigrade first deduct 32 degrees and then multiply the result by (100/180).

This should be 37.0 degree C

You convert from farenheit to Celsius as follows, where F=farenheit and C=Celsius;
F= 1.8C+32
=>C= [98.6 - 32]/1.8 = 37 degrees celsius
