the nfl is a billion dollar corporation and they rebuild the stadium even though half the people who suffered are still homeless and broke there are plenty of other stadiums in america the nfl shouldve used that money to build new houses for the victims. what are your thoughts?

They had a great year this year after a terrible year last year having to play their home games in San Antonio. People like "rags to riches" stories.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. There is no arguing that the NFL could have done SOOO much good for the victims of Katrina with the money that they spent elsewhere. The truth is, though, they wouldn't have. If they hadn't rebuilt the stadium and the team, then they would have just spent the money on advertising or something- they are greedy SOBs. They would have gotten good publicity out of charity work, but nothing more.

As for your initial question, the Saints were praised because they symbolized rebirth. The NO football team was able to rebuild the franchise, from 4-12 or something to NFC Championship. The people praising them were optimistically hoping for parallelism- the once-devastated NO city could rebuild into something great, too.

What they fail to account for is that the football players representing "rebirth" in their little fantasy never suffered. They are all multimillion dollar players, and were almost ready to ship out of NO for good once the hurricane hit. That little fact seems to be left out of most accounts.

good point. the only reason the saints were praised so much this years because the hurricane went through their state. it's not right, other teams had gone through many struggles too. my thoughs for this question is simple. actually i don't understand it. on television commercials you always see the players doing community service. maybe they thought if they rebuild the stadium, the states would pick themselves back up and recover. so im not sure what was going on, but it's not just the nfl's job to help rebuild louisiana, it's americas.
