What determines when our mission is done and what will determine when our troops come home. How long do you think we will have troops in iraq

Oreo Baby ... Good question.

Since none of us has a crystal ball and the circumstances are continually changing, making estimates or setting deadlines as to when they might actually come home is absolutely unwise. Do I wish our troops didn't have to go? Sure, but if we make an announcement saying that all troops will be withdrawn by December 31st, 2007, you can bet the enemy will be marking their calendars with the following notation for the very next day, January 1st, 2008: "Big, big victory celebration today ... Americans defeated ... Now our anarchy can resume without interference by the Americans and their allies."

Some people (not you) foolishly claim that we went to war for oil. Perhaps they think we're trying to take over all of Iraq's oil supplies. This incorrect, not to mention silly.

Furthermore, if the world's oil supplies are seriously impaired and people think that doesn't deserve our attention, that means they wouldn't fight for the air they breathe, either. It's almost the same thing. With oil supplies seriously impeded, the world would again suffer in the same ways we were hurt by the Arab oil embargo of 1973. All we're trying to do is keep the region stable so that oil producing countries can safely provide for the world's need for oil without interference from Saddam or Iran, two long-time trouble makers in the region.

For details regarding the shortages, the rationing, the closure of gas stations, and the way the price of gas TRIPLED during the embargo, see the link below. Imagine ... $10 per gallon for gas! It's not a guess or a joke; it's a certainty.

Lastly, you asked about when our troops might come home. Let me borrow these words I used for another answer I recently wrote:

Many people who think the war should be over and done with by now have no realistic perspective whatsoever. When I mention to some uninformed people that America STILL has hundreds of thousands of other troops deployed in or near the countries we defeated in World War II and the Korean War, they're shocked, disbelieving, and they had no clue. World War II was over in 1945; the Korean cease fire took effect in 1953 (the Korean War is not officially ended). Yet, thousands of U.S. military personnel remain deployed in these areas. These figures are as of June 2006. The links shown below are official Defense Department statistics.

Europe — 97,000
Japan — 34,000
Korea — 29,000
Afghanistan — 23,000
Iraq — 165,000
Deployed aboard ships — 126,000

Thanks for an interesting question.

By the way, prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact (the countries of eastern Europe), our strength in Europe was over 300,000 personnel vice the 97,000 that are there today.

I think we will have troops in Iraq for at least one year after the next president is sworn into office. New President would be sworn in, I believe, November 2008 so I think we'll have troops in Iraq until 2009.

Determination for when the mission is done is if Iraq has been able to cease sectarian violence without the support of U.S. troops.

I will be surprised if the Republicans will allow us to continue to have combat troops patrolling Baghdad and the troubled cities of Iraq much after December of this year. They are already indicating that there are only a few months remaining to resolve the situation in Iraq, otherwise the disaster in Baghdad will overwhelm the Republicans in the next election. It is no longer the result in Iraq, but the consequences for the political situation in America. That will be the determining factor. I think troops will be pulling out by December 2007.

ooh boy..well this is the primarly what the war is focused on.
to begin and continue war you must consider threads of continuity. Three factors must agree with each other to support any conflict of a nation.

Political Factor
Social Factor
Military Factor

Our government has been divided with several issues, and I think it is pathetic. We will never accomplish anything until both parties can decide on a mutual resolution. Of course, we could always introduce another party to fulfill the people's desires.

Socially, we are changing constantly. Especially in this new era. The people must stop relying on their leaders and their governments to satisfy them. I quote "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Remember that. We are the people and we are the United States. I am disappointed that many have forgot that. People can only sustain a democracy or the morals of that democracy by the way they behave. So how are country behaves is what we will stand for. Can you ask yourself are you proud of how your country behaves? Are you proud of what your country is turning into? Whatever you decided, you can change it.

Military- I believe we must continue to conform Iraq into a functional government. At least until President Bush's term ends. This war will stretch for much longer though. Although a majority of the military support President Bush, our resources and people do not. If we do leave, and Iraq remains in disorder, then we must remember that we only meant good. The people of the country prevented us from doing so. It tends to be difficult when the Iraq officials recruit people to protect against guerillas, when the security they recruit are the guerillas. You understand?

I hope my information seemed logical to your question about our status in Iraq. I recall this entire ordeal began with 9/11 as well. Everyone was willing to begin war and to seek retribution for that day. I wonder if many have forgotten that reason. United States, U.K, Japan, China, Germany, France, Australia, South America, North America, Europe, we all desire peace, but those who want peace must first expect war.

the reply for the way lengthy the troops will stay in Iraq hasn't ever replaced. The administration position has continuously been until eventually the pastime is done. inspite of if we pull the vast majority of troops in a overseas united states of america we are able to take care of a presence for some destiny years. Provinces are being became over to Iraqi administration as they're waiting to proper meet staffing call for for his or her very personal safe practices. in case you want to make indictments about the majority clarification for lack of existence in Iraq you ought to talk out hostile to the insurgents who're causing maximum of it. ultimately, the shortcoming of existence toll in Iraq is being wildly exaggerated with assistance from some those with agendas. solid components positioned the determination at merely over 40 8,000 on the intense end, no longer 100s of thousands. i do no longer anticipate that persons will help the Bush administration given the point of hate some have, notwithstanding it sickens me that such a great number of human beings ought to deny the Iraqi human beings even the prospect at freedom and self governance. What a hypocritical stance for such a great number of who evaluate themselves so a lot extra enlightened than us undesirable war mongers. ok your tirades have become ridiculous. you do not talk for all and multiple, and also you do not understand the perspectives of each and everyone. merely because you've the type of dim view of humanity do no longer presuppose that you could talk for something else persons over the finished procedure history. i look round this united states of america and spot loose human beings of each and every nationality, race and faith. there change right into a war fought in this united states of america over the right of human beings of shade to be loose. perchance you've heard of it, that little conflict referred to as the Civil war (you already know history huh, the merely revisionism I see the following is coming from you). you actually favor to get down off your intense horse and spare us your delusional rantings, or a minimum of open your eyes to more effective image that you're lacking.

It will take a new president to remove the troops from Iraq. Bush is unwilling to do so.

I think developing permanent bases is one of the things that is pissing so many people off over there, so if the Dem who wins in 08 is smart, they will minimize the number of troops there after the Iraq government gets up on their feet.

It's been stated that the war on terror is to be waged in Iraq, rather than on home soil, so I guess if you hold the administration to it's plan,we'll be there as long as there's still ONE terrorist still breathing, sounds a little on the impossible side, don't ya think.??
