Funny. Got a mental image of your avatar drilling a hole, then dropping the drill and peering in. Made me laugh.

Of course the light goes out when you close the door!!! Maybe you should have put yourself in the fridge instead & found out for yourself!! When you're finally able to get the door open to get your "chilled-out" wife out, look on the side of the fridge & look for the little lite button. Push that in & watch the light go out while you're standing there on the outside looking in!! Or maybe take a picture, it will last longer.

No, but I had an air conditioner that had a plugged drain hole, so I got this great idea to drill a hole to let the water run out and I drilled right into the freon tubing and all the freon leaked out, instantly turning the air conditioner into scrap metal.

No because you don't have to. That little nipple the door pushes in makes the light go out when the door is closed. LOL

No, but I've ruined a perfectly good set of garage doors to see if the lights on my Volvo go out when I close them!

Hi,Tmasn,
I am so glad I hit on your question this morning. I was wondering how to spend my Sunday.

Now, where did I put that drill?

You've tried this I hope?

Shouldn't you have written a disclaimer on this question?

I am back to tell you I tried the experiment and the light isn't on.

However, I have a hole in my fridge door, a bill is on the way to you as I speak, by carrier pigeon!

You don't need to because there is a switch. All you have to do is press the switch to see if the light goes out.

Absolutely, I do it every time we get a new fridge. Then I chew gum and plug the hole.
