It seems that if Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds had safe areas where there was heavy troop coverage and tight border control for those areas, ordinary Iraqis could get on with their lives. It would also be safe for ordinary people other than soldiers to go into Iraq and help (via groups like the Peace Corps and Habitat for Humanity) to build things that won't get immediately torn down and restore some sort of normalcy to the many Iraqis not interested in having a civil war.

If that brings peace than maybe it should be done. Actually the Arabs should settle it for themselves. They know their problems and their culture better than anyone else and thus are best qualified to do it.

Who exactly would divide it? Iraq is a democratic country with a democratically elected president. The military is there at the invitation of this government. That's right - go back & read or watch news reports after their elections when Talabini in June 2005 asked the US & Allies to stay & help stabalize the country.
We will leave if the Iraqi goverment ask.

We do not have the authority or their permission to divide up their country though.
We would not let Canada divide the US to help stablize it or any other reason, so why would anyone assume we could split up another country even for their own good. Democracy can be a funny thing.

I'm seeing 3, not 4. Where is 4? Maybe the capital is shared, like DC?

I think as you do, but the mineral rights will have to be split by population or something. The problem is that the Sunni areas have no oil.

I think that will be the eventual solution but then war will probably go on for at least 20 years between Iran Saudi Arabia Syria and Turkey.Which will destroy all the infrastructure and Oil Industry and America don't want that to happen.

Like SadWolfpacker, I think we should ask the Iraqis what *they* think should be done about their country. We have no right to divide them up against their will.
