You are completely right. I could list 1000's of better uses for the $300,000,000,000 then wasting it in Iraq. Why not just fund our own energy projects here in the good old U.S. and stop terrorism by cutting off fundland to sandland. We could create good American jobs and stop terrorism.
Here is a few more:
$300,000,000,000 could feed all Americans in poverty with lavish meals for 20 YEARS!!!!

Homeless people make god lab rats in Government Installations.
Homeless people will take whatever money the government gives and tests out God knows what drugs they test on Homeless people.
You see a homeless person in one spot for over a year and the next few months they are gone. And, then are back at the same location and looking a lot worse than they did before.
Reports have that vans snatch homeless people off the streets every year and everyday for use with testing. Since they are homeless no one will even notice nor care. And, would not make National News nor Local.
Just another number and statistic.
And, we have to give billions so Israel gets more nukes.

Perhaps because we're still among the richest countries in the world. Only China has a lower unemployment rate and percent of people living below the poverty line, if I'm not mistaken. (France has a higher unemployment rate, but a lower percentage of people living under the poverty line.)
And when do our homeless get "turned away"? There are lots of programs for them. They have it a lot easier than the homeless in many other countries. AND it's those "other countries" that we're helping!
I see nothing wrong with this.

We help the world because that is who we are and also because it aids in our national defense in many cases.
There are a lot of resources here for homeless people - I work at a homeless shelter and soup kitchen and we never turn any away. It is church based - so that might disappoint those who think everything must come from the government. Things are far from perfect, of course, but, I don't think that it is the either-or scenario that you might want to imply.
What are you doing to help here at home?

A very good question and I wonder how many nice USA citizens would open their homes to take a homeless person in. For that matter offer them a hot meal or a blanket. If I was a wagering person I would say 5-1 odds would be in my favor of none. People need to start helping people instead of waiting for the government to do everything. That is called initiative.

There are many places that money could have been spent right here in the US. How about Katrina? Our schools? Medical care for our citizens? Under the current administration this country is going to hell in a hand basket. Enough is enough. How many innocent people need to be killed in order for the citizens of this country to stop allowing their tax funds to be spent that way? Wake up people!!!!!!!!

Because some homeless have made wrong choices. Some are drug addicts, some blew it away on gambling, and other stupid stuff. It's not fair to just keep on giving and giving.

Because America is too busy "fixing" other countries and thinks that America doesn't have problems..when in reality we are the ones that need the help and attention more than any other country! Let thos countries work with their peoples and governments on their own! Oh wait...I FORGOT there was oil involved....

We hardly turn our homeless away. Millions are on welfare here in America thanks to America's tax dollars. I think we should go back to God's word where He says, "If a man doesn't work then he doesn't eat." I'm all for giving, but I despise the fact that my husband, and I paid 15k in taxes in 06. For what! The lazy azzes that you call "the homeless".
