I do think that some people do not take children seriously, but I am not one of them. I know that children often know and understand more then most adults give them credit for.

I agree but, it depends on the child. If the child is typical liar, he/she can't be taken seriously. If the child has never lied, then they can be taken seriously. Everyone says you have to be above 20 to be taken seriously but children should have a voice too.

They should not be ignored and adults should listen to them always.

However, this does not mean believing them unconditionally. A completely innocent teacher I once knew had her life destroyed because a little child joked about her putting a thermometer up his tush. They later found out that the child was joking but her reputation was so scarred by the media that she could never land a teaching job to this day.

Children have a voice, but parents and "grown ups" keep telling them to shut up.

I worked with a guy whose 18yo son worked with us, his son had some really Good suggestions, but was constantly being told to shut up that he didn't know what he was talking about. later he told me that he has been saying things like that for as long as he can remember. this was quite upsetting, One day the three of us were working on something, and the son and I talked about some options to fixing it, he had a good suggestion and it worked. The father was happy that it was fixed and gave me the credit, I told him that it was his son that came up with the idea, he never acknowledged him. I did though and made sure that his father heard it.
GROWN-UPS LET THE CHILDREN SPEAK they have some really good things to say

Children should have a voice but you have to understand, children sometimes don't realize things as other people do and they tend to twist the truth, not knowing its impact.
