range rover is a vehicle made by the company Land Rover.... so there is no answer to your question.

right now they have three basic models, the Range Rover, the LR3, and the LR2. plus they made the freelander and discovery at the same time they made the Range Rover, there was never a model called "land rover". plus you could just go on the company's website and find this out yourself, but hey, I'm a nice guy.........

I doubt very much whether there would be much difference assuming the same winter tyres on each car. Personally I would go for the Discovery in diesel form with the best snow tyres I could afford. The Range Rover is fine only if you have very deep pockets.

Range rover does, but now a rebuttal to the other answers. I have a 1999 land rover with 150,000 miles on it. I replaced the engine at 75,000, that was the only major maintenance. It still runs great.

PLEASE STOP HERE. Do not consider either. My nephew bought a new one a year ago because his wife didn't want their SUV to look like body else's within a five mile radius. It's spent more time in the shop than on the road. At first they refused to allign the vehicle because it was "Too Difficult" the rear tires had too much negative camber and they were ruined @ 9,500 miles. Try this: take a 25 mile ride in one then travel the same route in a Chevrolet Trailblaser or Tahoe. Draw your own conclusion. Remember, Ford owns this company. What's their bottom line look like these days?
