Here is a screenshot of a game I tried to play (it's meant to look like a computer screen) http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/9571/hodpcvy5.jpg

I installed the latest drivers for my GeForce 2mx (i know its a crap graphics card but the game im playing is pretty lame too and should work fine)

it's Heart of Darkness if anyone remembers it

anyway - you saw the screenshot, so can anyone please tell me

1 - the term of what this problem is called
2 - how to fix it

btw, in the Display settings in Windows, the Color Quality only lets me choose 16bit or 32bit, would that make a difference?

Thanks!

Looks like you are in 256 color mode. Try upping the color pallette by going to 16-bit or 32-bit. If you think the drivers may have messed it up, reboot and re-install the drivers. Then, reboot again and you should be set.

Looks like maybe your display defaulted to 256 colours and you are trying to run a 24-bit colour game. check your settings by going to display properties and make sure you're on full colour (millions of colours).

Try buying the game legitimately instead.
Also stop using Windows Vista.
