Our scientific advisors at the Hidden Urban Gnome Reserve & Sanctuary report that:
"Gnomes are distant relatives of Dwarves, Elves, Humans, Fairies and other bi-pedal humanoid Earth organisms. Our relations stem back to the distant past, as each species slowly evolved in different directions with noticible changes occuring in regards to size, flying capabilities, innate magical abilities, etc. over time."

A gnome's relationship to a dwarf is about the same
relationship a tiger shares with a leopard
The dwarf is just not big enough for a gnome to consider him a giant. Especially with all those noisy bumbling humans around.
now a gnomes relationship to a human is about the same relationship a itty bitty kitty cat has with a lion.
p.s. did ya see the news about the Gnome massacre in Australia.
they are offering serious money to find the "killers"

Absolutely, in the same sense that we are considered an ape's relative. I never thought of it that way! Good question!
HMMM..So would a sprite and a fairy be considered relatives, in this sense, too?
