Due to years of neglect and short-sighted domestic policies, America is on the verge of an energy crisis. Our supply of energy has not kept pace with our demand. Today our nation produces 39% less oil than we did in 1970. This leaves us dependent on foreign suppliers, who often do not have America’s best interests at heart. In the last Congress, I co-sponsored the Vehicle and Fuel Choices for America Security Act. This bill aims to reduce our oil consumption by 2.5 million barrels per day in ten years by taking an innovative, market-based approach that relies on advanced technology and an expansion of renewable fuels. I will continue to fight for energy independence.

If the enviro-terrorists would allow the safest and most efficient form of energy, nuclear power plants, to be built again there would be no energy worries and our dependency on fossil fuels would drop precipitously.

Oh but that question is only going to sling shot and bite you in the buttocks The Neo Con faction under Cheney would be well served by an attack blamed on Iran right about now before the elections take place Brezinski pointed that out - a formmer cabinet minister under Reagan and echoed by the formmer Tresury Secratary under Carter - Also mentioned many times by Green Party candidate Cinthia McKinny a former Congress woman Read Presidential Order 51 along with others - the government has set up for an anual budget in this Exective Order that became law in late 2007 for an emergency Who runs this new anual budget in case there is an emergency? The appointed Secratary of Homeland Security does - hmmm ------- So don't get me wrong - I agree with what you are saying - It's just I can see how they will twist that question behind your back After an attack the speech would read like this ---- "If only more Americans listened if only more trusted me - This would not have happened "

I am glad you could join us Bill. Perhaps you can show Dubya how to get things done. He had a Congress ( three actually) of his same party and accomplished yet you, Bill Clinton managed to work with a hostile Congress to created a 3 trillion dollar budget surplus. While you were in office you promoted alternative fuels but the hostile Congresses refused to cooperate. The current Present talks alot but doesn't seem to take action. You know the old talk the talk, walk the walk. He can talk but seems to be lame in more ways than a lame duck.

It would be great if you could give him pointers but he doesn't really listen to anybody, not even his father. He has meetings and acts like he is consulting others but he usually has decided. You have heard, Mr. Clinton, that G.W. calls himself the decider, haven't you?

Well, Bill, if we may call you that Mr. President, we are glad you could join us and thanks for working hard at promoting alternative energy and for your Vice President and his work on global warming which, as you know, is related to energy independence.

I don't need to tell you, Madeline Albright probably did if you, a Rhodes Scholar didn't already know, that the people in Iraq and Iran and others in the area want to live in the 13th Century.

Not being an OIL MAN , Mr. C. you appreciate the need for alternative fuels but when Congress is bought by the oil companies it seems like a lost cause.

Perhaps your wife, if she is elected, will have a Democratic controlled Congress that she can work with and make sure we work very hard and fast to save our economic system and our planet.

Again, thank you President Clinton for your views on energy independence. Keep up the good work raising lots of money for the Democrats.

Energy crisis = no. Plenty of waste still exists. If we were anywhere near a crisis we would have already implemented cost effective ways to conserve it ( i.e using superconductor technology within the grid which would result in a 35% savings in fuel consumption alone).

However, I think we have a big potential of having a liquid fuels crisis (within 20 years) if we keep the status quo of using conventional oil to power vehicles given the competition for it among emerging nations and little change to fuel economy standards.
