We switched some things around in our apartment and the ethernet cord is not long enough. I'm sick of dealing with cords, so how do I know what type of card to buy and what will fit?

A standard wireless PCI card will do. I suggest Linksys. If you take a peek inside your computer you should see a few long white ports that have a small gap at about 3/4 towards the end. Those are the PCI ports. These are the ports you want to use.

Make sure also your router/modem supports wireless...

EDIT: Or use a USB adapter =P. I'm old fashioned

If you have a spare USB, buy a Usb wireless adaptor.
Else open your computer and fit a wireless PCI card.
