my boyfriend has a desktop with no internet connection and i have a laptop and wireless service is there any ways for us to link our computers to that he can use my internet connection? i also have a pda that i use as a modem i tried to use the wi-fi settings on my pda to maybe pic up my wireless card and connect him..is that possible. is there anyway please someone let me know

Desire, Yes it is possible but where is your boyfriend;s PC physically located? If it is within the same residence, then it can be done. But before you try anything, it would be nice to educate yourself a little about networking. So, if you are using Windows XP. click on help, type "home networking" or something to that effect and print the information for later reference. After you learn some of the ins and outs of networking as well as what you will need for you friends PC and use the Windows guidelines to get your computers connected.

But, it is kinda weak that your boyfriend doesn't know this stuff!
At least you know to ask...

Recommend that he get a wifi card, and simply sign onto your network. Instructions are in the box with the new wifi card.

If he is worthy, he can read the directions, and will know this stuff. Plus, he could read more, at http://yolinux.com

connect the two computer with a LAN crossover cable, you should be able to get one at any computer store, or buy a router and hook both the computers to the router.
