She was a model and actress, who actually wasn't very good at either. But she came from a famous family who had plenty of money and she played around with a lot of famous people. She died at age 28 from an overdose of barbiturates.

Edie Sedgwick was a society girl, beautiful and troubled. She was no more or less talented than any other girl of her social status. Rather than being a star of her own right, her glow was merely the light that reflected from her famous companion Andy Warhol. The term "Factory Girl" used as the movie title comes from the name of Warhol's studio.
