can someone tell me...In the 4th quarter the 49ers are on their own 8 yard line. Joe Montana looks up in the stands, then says to his teamates "isn't that John Candy?" which removed alot of the pressure and they then went on to win the game. My question is was that really John Candy or did Montana just make that up to calm his players?

Nope, it's true. Harris Barton always had a fascination with spotting famous people in the stands and Montana happened to see Candy in the seats. I heard Montana tell this story on Mike & the Mad Dog the Friday before the Super Bowl.

No he was really there watching the game.But it proboly did calm the players a bit to distract them from the enormous task they had to complete in the next 3 min.
