Whenever you download a copy of windows you'll run into update problems....That activation hack is an easy enough workaround but the genuine advantage gets updated by microsoft pretty regularly.

There's hacks for it out there but it's really more of a hassle to keep up with it. I use a program called Autopatcher. It's essentially contains a rolled up zip of all updates and let's you install from your local machine. It does the same analyizing and installing method you would get from the microsoft site. Nice little interface that lets you browse through to pick & choose which updates you want to add. I find it much easier than locating the latest cracks for the windows site.

You're gonna want the full version of the program (it's freeware) and then they release an update for it once a month with all the new windows update releases. (you'll only need the latest release of the full version and the latest update pack....don't grab each month's version) latest release is January 2007

The same autopatcher will work for both xp and vista. It contains all the updates available and will run through the system analyzier same as the microsoft site.

I've run nothing but Windows and I've never seen that particular message. It should be a yellow shield reminding you to install updates in the bottom right corner near your clock. Try this, click on "Start" button, click on "Control Panel", then click on "Automatic Updates" if you have anything to install from Microsoft it should tell you about it in there. Don't forget to change your settings to automatically install updates without asking you and you shouldn't have this problem again. Be sure to check for viruses because that error message don't sound right! You don't have to buy this type of updates.

Updates are very good for your computer. They keep your computer safe. Security updates are available for many windows programs, like MS Office, and keeps them secure. These updates are available for only genuine users. If you have xp sp 2(prof.), you can make it genuine by following these steps:

1-Go to www.magicaljellybean.com
2-download the "keyfinder"
3-open the keyfinder, go to options and click on "change windows key".
4-type in this key: V2C47-MK7JD-3R89F-D2KXW-VPK3J
5-click on change

Now your windows will be genuine and that message will not disturb you any more.

Note: This is only for xp sp 2(prof.) but you can try it out for any other OS. I dont' know if it'll work on any other but it works 100% on xp sp 2(prof.)

it sounds like you have a pirate copy of windows, if you bought your pc in a shop take it back and complain, but if you got it second hand you might have to buy a genuine copy of windows and install it

It sounds like you just updated your system.

And you can't be a 'victim' of genuine software, unless you pirated it and would feel insulted if it was real.
