I'll be 17 this year and I too use to think life was pretty hard. It felt like everything was coming apart in my life and I just didn't care anymore about the people around me or what I did. I felt this way until one day a friend asked me to go to a pentecostal church with her. I didn't know what pentecostal meant, but all I knew is that I wanted to get out of the house for awhile and so I went. I forgot what the pastor was preaching, but I do remember at the end of the service I saw people praying and some even crying. It wasn't a cry of pain and sorrow, no, it was something more. You could tell the people praying were feeling something. I became curious and wanted to know what they were feeling, so I began to pray too. When I opened my heart to God and started to pray, I too began to cry. But when I cried it felt different from my crying I did everyday either from anger or hurt. I felt pure. Oh how pure! I felt like everything was going to be ok. That night was the first time I have ever felt God and oh how it was worth it! After that I was hooked, and I was almost 14 at the time. I soon after recieved the Holy Ghost. You may not know what the Holy Ghost is, but once you receive it, it will forever change you! You're a whole different person. I don't feel depressed like I use to, I feel like I have the strength to go on, living life. I don't know who you are or what you are going through and I'm not here to preach to you, but I personally think that in order to get the help you're looking for, you need to look to Jesus. Doctor's may try to get you to take medication, others may suggest seeing a couselor, but nothing else works better than having a relationship with God.
People said I was missing out in life because I turned my life to Jesus, but the truth is I have never had such peace and joy in my life. Living for God is not only fun, but more than I ever imagined.

Life is what you make of it. Why is life so hard for a 17 year old? You haven't even experienced life yet. If your having problems with school or with family, get some help. No matter what there is nothing that can't be made better and that includes your life. Maybe you haven't experienced it yet but you might want to talk to God about it. You can go to some place alone and pray to God and talk to Him. I'm 62 years old and my life was tough for a time too until I found Jesus Christ. I can honestly say my prayers were answered and I'm living a wonderful life now. Everyone goes through bad times but God can make them better. I promise this is true. If you don't care to talk to a pastor, like I said, you can go some place alone and talk to God. He's a great listener and He will solve your problems if you'll let Him...

Life is so hard because we wish it was so easy! You are at a time in your life when you might feel pushed to decide what to do with the rest of your life. It's good you're not depressed like so many others. You yourself said "that's no good". If thinking about your future is too heavy for you to carry right now, take some down time. If you're NOT thinking of your future then DO!! The only thing we can count on is CHANGE. That is the rule.
You sound like a smart young person. That's to your advantage!! Good Luck!! P.S. Read and read and read. Never met a reader that couldn't think more clearly! @8-)

I felt the same at your age. It is a difficult stage of life to get through, especially these days with drugs and gangs and other mistakes you can make, like the long term consequences of not driving sensibly, or in the area of sex and relationships. If only I had been given the following advice: (and had sense enough to take it!) [1] I would strongly advise learning the technique of finding your centre, through visiting www.relax7.com/7.php and view the blogs of Shan Eris on "tackling depression" at www.myspace.com [2] Avoid smoking, heavy drinking, drugs and heavy gambling, and minimise contact with those involved in such things. [3] Spend some time every week or so helping others: you will feel better about yourself and be doing something worthwhile, as well as meeting some good people in the process. Could be writing letters for Amnesty International, or helping Meals on Wheels, or the World Wildlife Fund, or Greenpeace. [4] Keep a positive mental attitude and maintain your sense of humour. [5] Choose your career path wisely and be prepared to make sacrifices in your social life, while still leaving time to enjoy the things you like on a regular basis. [6] Learn how to manage your finances, save regularly and if you get a credit card, compare all the rates and pay them off ontime, never taking cash advances unless in an emergency. [7] Learn to drive from a qualified instructor, and never drive when tired or upset, pull over to a safe place. [8] Associate with good people who are optimistic and caring. [9] Always remember, things will improve before too long as you adjust to adulthood, all you have to do is stick it out through this not-so-easy patch.

a lot of parents make life pretty easy for kids. many kids are sheltered and protected from the bad things in life for a long time, not previously subjected or exposed to how hard and tough life can really be, esp. if you are broke or haven't any friends. you learn to survive and thrive. if you have a really hard time learning that, don't catch onto it, or live life impaired, it stays more difficult longer. it's easier if you-- stay out of trouble, get and hold a job, read everything you can get your hands on, "transportation is the key to mobility"(life sucks worse without a car & driver's licence), "education is a key to upward mobility"(doing well in school pays off in life),own who you are and make responsible decisions, think for yourself, be proud of who you are, surround yourself with good, intelligent and positive people, appreciate what you do have, and keep your eyes and your mind open, your chin up, and know that bad days are there so you appreciate the good ones when they come along. helps to have Someone to believe in, and pray in good times and bad. the one constant in life is change. if you don't like the way things are, keep living, and it will invariably change. whatever you do, don't commit suicide, because that is a permanent 'solution' to a temporary problem. hang in there, kiddo. keep at it, it will get better, but don't just think, DO, and have perserverence. it will pay off for you, if you just keep DOing.

I don't know what you are going through right now. But I tell you, I would give anything to be your age right now. I am not old but after what I have seen and learn after school, I know there are so many opportunities out there. There are so many things to cherish and enjoy.
I hope I can go back to be a teenagers and change my course of live for the better.
Kiddo, there are so many good things ahead of you. There are so many opportunities ahead of you. Do yourself a favor, be strong, be tough and do your best in school. Like may people say, there is/are opportunities for everyone, but most people missed it because they were not ready for it.
Try harder, a brighter future is ahead only if you prepare yourself for the challenges now and down the road.

Well I believe life is hard as you make it, we all have to grow up, but try to stay true to yourself, make good judgements meet new people, do different things to expand your knowledge and experiences, don't try and grow up too quick I believe it gets you no where focus on the day your in and plant one foot in front of you at a time, the stage your at now is the hardest, it'll smooth out- stay possitive, this phase your going through will come to an end.

Hey teenager, join the club. All teens go through this type of depression at some point or another. It is normal to feel this way, its mostly due to stress anyway. But to answer your question, life is hard because if it was easy, it wouldn't be any fun at all. Or at least thats how I look at it, its the only thing that keeps me going sometimes........

No one ever said it would be easy! Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty... I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led diffcult lives and led them well." -
-- Theodore Roosevelt It's really true! You would never appreciate the cool refreshing flow of water on your body, quenching your dry throat, if you never were miserably overheated and terribly thirsty! And without great saddness in your life, tragedy and all- without it, you would not have appreciation for all the awesome beauty and miracles of life all about you! Down to the tiniest hummingbird to greet you on a morning that you felt sick and down, you look up and there hovering as if in suspended animation is this tiny miracle, a moment captured just for you. If you offer your life and strength and spirit to Jesus for His use and ask Him to lead you He will! And you will have purpose and drive in your being that you never thought possible and a overflowing joy that is unstoppable! Others will be drawn to you to find the secret of your abundent love of life! Call on Jesus, do it now, I promiss He will hear you and answer, if you have a bible just get it now and placing your hand on it, bow your head and ask Jesus to please give you a word, especially for you at this point in time--- and then open to any page and just begin to read. Let it fill you, think on it and Thank God while asking him to help your belief and understanding. God Bless you.
