What are the benefits of investing in a hotel. I mean pardon me for being ignorant but I've never invested before but I have recently inherited "something" and if I invest in hotels...besides the dividend payments I get, do I get to stay in those hotels or their chains for free? What are the perks? What about airlines? Do I get to fly for free if I invest at a certain level?

Are you investing in an actual physical building or the stock of a hotel chain? If you are investing in the stock you will not get any special perks. Just the roller coaster ride of owning the stock. Since you have not invested before I would definetly seek the advice of a professional financial advisor. They should be able to guide you in the proper direction.

You don't give much information...But invest in a hotel by buying stock, if you have analyzed there financial records and you have decided that their operation is undervalued compared with it's peers.

If you are buying a group of hotels in a "REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT TRUST"ask your financial advisor for historic returns on the fund.

If you want to buy one hotel room in a hotel for investment and partial use by yourself STAY AWAY !!! the costs associated with the holding of this investment and the lack of income compared to costs, and the difficultry in selling your investment when you get tired of all this...FORGET IT.

Hope this helps
