They can get illnesses and infections similiar to ours, but they ARE NOT the same illnesses and infections. Humans cannot contract common respiratory problems, colds, or bronchitis from animals, and vice versa. They cannot catch ours! If your pets are sick, don't give them your medication. Some meds may have the same ingredients, but dosage is different on many different levels.

Cat flu? What the F is cat flu? Typically flu of any form is the outcomes of a viral infection, and virus do not simply leap across species, so i'm going to claim the reply to your question isn't any. Bacterial infections, like strep throat, and so on., can infect a few varieties of species, but virus are usually species-precise. Hope that helps. Now not certain what the cat has, or the dog, but seems like visits to the vet are so as.

dogs and cats can get influenza but it is not common, and as of yet their has been no evidence they pass it to people. There is canine influenza which surfaced at greyhound tracks last winter or the winter before. It has been seen at animal shelters as well. As far as cats with influenza, ther have been no reports in the US but there have been cases in europe and other continents of big cats and domestic cats having avian influenza. For more info search CDC or AVMA websites.
Dogs commonly get kennel cough (tracheobronchitis).
Cats commonly get upper respiratory infections.
