i know one thing he is by far the best college player i've ever seen, yes he's better than Greg Oden, Durant will win freshman of the year no doubt, but he's even in the player of the year talk, AND HE'S A FRESHMAN!!!!!

NOT EVEN CLOSE, I think Pistol Pete Maravich might have been the best college player ever, definitely the best never to play in the NCAA tournament, back when he played only conference winners made the tournament, such a shame, he might have led LSU to a championship, if they had 64 teams back in the day.

Let's see a few other great players come to mind that have to be discusses in the conversation....Jordan, Bird, Akeem the Dream, Abdul-Jabbar, Walton, and many more.

Durant is not even in the same area code as these folks....

Kevin Durant couldn't carry Pete Maravich's jockstrap. Pistol Pete AVERAGED over 44 points per game...without the benefit of the 3-point shot. And that's a CAREER average... Durant won't stay there more than 2 years and, if the truth was known, probably one. PLUS... Pete could do things with a basketball that Durant can't even dream of doing.

My man go to a video sports store and ask for college games of pistol pete, kareem , magic,bird, jordon,shaq,hakeem the dream, and maybe even redick.After watching those tapes never ask this question again. But he is the best this year and quite possibly the best freshman in the past 10-15 years.

No, but if stays a longer period of time, he'll be up there.Even though Lew Alcindor the greatest, one of the best I've seen was a cat by the name of Billy Owens, who played for Syracuse.Real smooth player.
