Is there a SIMPLE (or cheap) way to fix LCD dead spots on a laptop? I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop, less than a year old, and I have two noticable dead spots on the monitor. One is looks like a white, bright cluster, and the other looks like a single star.
I've heard people say that it is possible to unscrew the casing and run a high powered magnate over the back of the screen, but I am hesitant to do that, as I am afraid it will cause more damage to the computer.
Does anyone know of a simple, or cheap way to fix this myself, without running the risk of further damage?
Thanks!

If it is less than a year old, it should still be under warranty. I would suggest contacting Toshiba, or the place you bought your computer from and see if it is covered. If you bought it from Best Buy or someplace like that, and got the Accidental Damage Plan, then I know it is covered. DO NOT do the magnet thing!!!!!!! LCD monitors are the most expensive ones out there. If one breaks, companies don't fix them, the replace them. It is cheaper that way.

I don't think the magnet thingy will work. Once the pixel is dead, it remains dead.

So long as the spot is not too objectionable and you can still get your stuff done, I would try and live with it.

As a previous poster said, if the monitor is under warranty, try to get it replaced under warranty.

If the monitor is old, and the dead areas are not acceptable, then sell it off for cheap and get a new one. Someone will buy it, if it is cheap enough.

Sorry, once the pixels are dead, they're dead. Barring a loose cable somewhere, the only fix is to replace the screen.

The lcd screen is replaceable, and if it has dead spots it must be replaced, no amount of magnetic manipualtion will fix it!

Try this app called JFix. It is supposed to fix "stuck" pixels by randomly firing on-off signals for each color component in a pixel up to 60 times a second.

there is relatively no longer something you're able to do approximately it. they're everlasting. I even have one on my liquid crystal demonstrate that bothers me whilst the demonstrate screen is black whilst watching video clips. It glows a vivid pink. i will stay with it.
