I don't think culture is a giant cult because culture can be traditions of past history and the incorporation of new traditions too. A cult is synonymous with a freak group of people that start their own culture.

Lol, no, culture is, in plain english, the characteristics, attributes, and habits of a group of people such as a country, city, ethnic group, etc.

In a sentence: American culture includes McDonalds, football, and lots of food, among others.
