Ok, this is strange but I am 35 weeks pregnant and it feels like my baby is taking deep breaths inside of me!?? Is that possible? I mean I can put my hand on my tummy where the baby is and my hand will rise up and down like when you take a deep breath. It is not ME breathing, (I held my breath while doing this to make sure!!) does anyone know what my baby is doing? I mean is it possible I am feeling him breathe or is he just moving? Any SERIOUS suggestions would be great! Thanks!!

This is my 5th child and I know what hiccups feel like, thats not it. Please be serious if you are going to answer! Some of these answers are just absolutely ridiculous and unresearched!

While your baby is taking practice breaths in the womb, it is more likely that he is slowly rubbing a foot or hand along the uterine wall and it looks like the slow rise and fall of breathing. Whatever baby is doing, it does not sound like anything to be worried about. Enjoy your last few weeks of pregnancy and good luck at your delivery!

well congrats first of all...and its possible you can feel him taking breaths but more likely its him just moving his arms. You may ask your Dr. if thats possible or what it is that you are feeling. Because a Dr. can probably give you a more exact answer on what it is than anyone on here. I see your an Army Wife..Congrats Im a soon to be Marine wife. Good Luck with everything!!

They practice breathing. They don't actually take breaths, but they do the inhaling and exhaling actions. That's probably what you're feeling. As long as you feel him/her move at least 10 times in 24 hours there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

My best guess is that either the baby is moving, or maybe you are experiencing braxton hicks contractions. Are you sure that it's not more of a tightening feeling of your uterus? People describe contractions in all different ways, this could just be it for you. I remember when i first felt them, I just thought the baby was kicking really hard, but it wasn't sudden kicks, it was just pushing!

Babies do make practice breathing movements while swallowing the amniotic fluid. Your baby is just getting ready to breathe!

he or she is probably just moving around - things are getting cramped in there at 35 weeks

i am nearly 37 weeks - not long to go

good luck and best wishes for the brith of your baby

the baby can't be breathing because he is surrounded in fluid. he will take his first breath after birth. maybe what you are feeling is the baby's hiccups. they do hiccup in the womb, if not i guess he is just moving weird.

Your baby has the hiccups. That used to happen to me with my las baby all the time. He hiccuped more than he moved.
Congrats!
