I can only answer for me, however, I think many of us (at least Americans) find heroes all around us.
Those who gave unselfishly of themselves in 911 to help victims in the rubble and the Twin Towers. Firefighters and police and regular folks who gave their lives. Those in the United 93 flight were heroes - saving so many on the ground.
And of course all our men and women who fight in the armed services so that we may enjoy freedom here in the States. They are all my heroes.
I think families too are heroes. There is so much to try to protect your family, your children from -- drugs, peer pressure, kidnapping, pedophiles - the list is endless. Life really did seem simpler when I was a kid growing up.
Each time you see or hear someone in the news give of themselves, aren't they too a hero?
I hope we all take time to appreciate them and to pray for them. Life is tough in these 'modern' times ... and growing more challenging daily. We need each other ...
