It might, or you could get those squishy earplugs, though I was never a fan of them.

No, swim caps will not keep water out of your ears. That's why people with ear infections/swimmer's ear can't put their heads into the water even with caps or else the infection could get worse, or they could potentially infect other people.
If you want to keep the water out of your ear, you should buy ear plugs. They help a lot.
One more thing, swim caps really aren't that expensive. Latex swim caps are $3 each, and since you don't swim competitively, I'm sure they'll last a while. Or if you find latex to be uncomfortable, you could always get silicone cap. Those are around $10-12, but they last a long time even if you swim daily. They could be worth the investment.

No a swim cap will not help. The only thing that I know of that helps is to either get those wax plugs at the drug store that you mold to fit in your ear or use a few drops of mineral oil in you ear before you swim, of course, do not use both since the mineral oil will lubricate the ear and then the plugs will not stay in. Try the mineral oil first and see if that works since you can still hear with that in, the plugs do hamper your hearing which is something you may not want.
Hope this helps

Nope. I've been swimming for 4 years and I'm positive that every time I swim, water gets in my ear, and no amount of cap coverage will be able to help you. If you're ear gets irritated, get some ear plugs. The kind I use are squishy, kind of clay like and you can mold it to fit your ear.

Swim caps don't really help much in that regard. I have problems with both my ears. There are silicon ear plugs that are like a putty that you stick in your ears and I find they work really well. You can get them from swim supply stores or even cheaper from the pharmacy section at most large grocery stores. (I get mine from Shoppers Drug Mart). They come as 4-6 a pack for just a few dollars, and you can keep reusing them... so I spend about $3 every six months on ear plugs.
Besides areodynamics, caps mainly save your hair -- keep it out of the way, reduce the amount of chlorine in contact with your hair, and reduce the tearing that can happen from the goggles strap.

Unfortunately, and despite many advertising claims, I've never found one that keeps your ears dry. If you are having serious problems, you might try an ear plug. But DO NOT do this if you are going to be going under the water. They are just for use when you are swimming on the surface.

I don't think so. They may make special caps for ears but I think that they only cover your hairline or so. If you want to keep water out of your ear, try earplugs. There is an "earplug" wax that I've heard works well in water. It molds to your ear.

unfortunately..no it will not..even if it is covering your ears..there are places where the water seeps in..so by the time u hit the water..your head will already be wet!..but it is better than nothing at all..it will keep hair out of your face and your hair doesnt get weighing down soaked..and your ears may get wet..but you shouldnt notice too badly

you can pull the cap over your ear but to tell you the truth that won't do the trick...you'll still get water in your ear...you should try ear plugs.
