Sir Blunt has some good test taking strategies there, I've used them myself and done well on standardized tests.
Also, check out the online tutoring sites. To find them, put subject tutorial in your search window. For example trigonometry tutorial. Find one that you can work with, bookmark it, and get lots of practice. If you can find one with interactive tutorials (javascript etc) that's even better.

Practice what you are having trouble with and find a tutor.

When doing the ACT Skip all questions you know you are not so good at and do the ones you are better at and then come back through.

When you are going back through concentrate on getting them right. Use common sence to mark out which answers are not good and focus on the good possible ones.

Before time runs out guess on all left over questions Same letter do not do a here b there just go down the line and make all D or B is what i prefer but any letter is good 1...or look through the list real quick and notice which one was least common if there is one go with that letter.

Make sure you do good in the other sections to average your score out. I took my ACT 1 1/2 years out of Highschool and skipped most of highschool I didn't even have a math class my Sr year. so I was 2 1/2 years without Math. I was pretty freaked out.

I ended up with a 27 and I'm confident you can do good. I had horrible grades and skipped most of highschool. I'm sure you can score over an 18. Just take it easy.

Excuse my sentence structure I'm a little lazy with my broken arm.

First of all CALM DOWN! You are capable of doing well on this. You have a brain and it works. You can do well if you have prepared well. During the test keep breathing...O2 is good for the brain. Eat healthy food, get your rest and keep your goals in mind. You will be fine!
