Before cell phones came along, was there a time when it would have come in mighty handy?

When I was dating, back in the 70's, there were a few times I would have given anything for one. I nearly froze to death only about 4-5 miles from home, and another time I had to walk through knee-high snow to a farmhouse to beg to use their phone. How about you?

My oldest Granddaughter was about 3 at the time, and we were driving home after Easter break, it was about 10:00 at night. We had just passed through a town about 3 miles back and were on a busy interstate highway. My car without warning, just quit. I pulled off the highway as far as I could. If I had, had a cell phone, I could have felt a lot better!

ANyone who ever got into any sort of car accident I'm sure would agree that thats the best time to have one so you can call the cops or call for help! of course those are probably the same people who go around rear ending everyone cuz they are too busy gabbing on the phone to drive :)

oh yes, I had a wreck one night, it was raining and there was not any houses around, I had to walk like a mile to get to a phone, then the call was long distance, and the rude person wanted 5 bucks before I could call home

When I was 11 or 12, my sister and I were waiting for the bus. A man in a white van stopped and told us our school bus broke down and he would give us a ride to school. I wish I'd had one. We didn't go with him. That still haunts me today. Did he get a child that day?

I was in a car accident and the car landed upside down on top of the CB antenna and I couldn't even use it to call for help.
