When they are talking about the action, they are talking about the space between the strings and the fretboard,! When the action is too low the strings are so close to the frets, that they hit or buzz the frets, and tend to not make a clear sound! When the action is too high, the strings are so far away from the frets, that , it takes a lot of pressure to ;make a note, and it puts a lot of pressure on your fingertips, they have to be set just a perfect distance from the frets !!

Anyone talking about the action on a guitar is a "pseud".... But to answer the question, the "action" is how far the strings are from the frets, or how far you have to push down on a string before it hits a fret. If you can actually play a guitar, while some guitars might have higher or lower actions, you don't talk about it, you just adjust your playing!

The action refers to how high (or low) the strings sit above the guitar's frets and the pickups. Low is nice, as long as the strings don't vibrate against the frets when you don't want them to, or dont cause feedback with the pickups.

the postion of the strings realative to the fret board. eg too low means they are too clsoe to teh fret board, too high means too far away. teh reason thsi si a problem is that if tehy are too low they will bounce off teh wrong fret when playing or you will hit them when moving from one fret to another, tehre must be some distance, too high will make it too difficult to depress the strings especially on the second octave ( above teh 12th fret)

It means how far away the strings are from the fretboard. You can raise or lower the action by raising or lowering the bridge.

'action' refers to the height of the strings off the fretboard. If it is too high, it's hard to play....if it's too low, the strings may buzz
