A fruity odor to the breath occurs as the body attempts to get rid of excess acetone through the breathing. This is a characteristic sign of ketoacidosis, which may occur in diabetes, and is a potentially life-threatening condition.
fecal odor to the breath (the breath smells like feces) can occur with prolonged vomiting, especially when there is a bowel obstruction. It may also occur temporarily if a person has a nasogastric tube (a tube placed through the nose or mouth to the stomach to drain the stomach contents) in place.
The breath may have an ammonia-like odor (also described as urine-like or "fishy") in people with chronic kidney failure.

Most likely alcohol. If it were mouth wash or something similar you'd also smell mint or something. Bear in mind that she/he may be a heavy drinker at night (after school, I think a teacher is allowed to drink), and their breath may still smell in the morning. Doesn't necessarily indicate that the teacher is drinking before or during school.

It could be diabetes.
It may also occur if you are eating a high protein, low carb diet. Then when you exercise your body is using protein stores for eneregy instead of carbs, making you go into ketosis and produce the alcohol smell.
So if you are not eating much carbs try that; if you are see your doctor!

You could be diabetic.
Sometimes people with diabetes have a somewhat alchoholic smell to their breath. Better get it checked out.

If you use mouthwash when you brush your teeth, the alcohol smell will always stay in your mouth. It depends on the percentage of alcohol in it though.

A really bad case of diabetes can make your breath smell like liquor. Please be careful with criticism until you know a bit more about the realities of this world.

The mouthwash answer is incorrect.
This could be the sign of a serious medical condition, like diabetes, so you really need to consult your physician and allow him/her to check things out and make sure things are okay.
Get it checked out and don't put it off.

Your problem is that you have a mate kisses you and fills you with the smell. He's the one that drinks. your nose hairs hold the smell for a day or two.
