I was curious, just adopted an adult sugar glider...do they bond with just one human or is it that once they've bonded with a human they're okay with all of them? Mine has bonded with me very quickly but I want her to be okay with my husband in the house too...

Hey there, sugar gliders usually bond closely with one person, but if handled correctly can at least be alright with many people. My youngest sugar glider was handled often and by a lot of people before I got him, so anyone can handle him and he's not afraid. He definitely knows I'm mom though, because when he's ready to go back to his pouch he jumps to me to take him there :)

Is she showing any signs of "agression" or fear of your hubby? What kind of playtime do you do with her? One of my favorite bonding things to do is called tent time - if you haven't already tried it, I would highly recommend trying it along with your husband. Get a kids tent that has a floor and fully zips up (target has them for $25), and can fit in your living area. Cover the bottom with fleece so it's not so noisy, stock up a few treats, bring some toys like feathers and whiffle balls and get comfy! Turn off as many lights as you can (I usually turn them all off and turn the TV on for my entertainment). It may take a few times, but I try to stay in for around an hour - she'll slowly come around and enjoy playing in all the space - if you or your husband are in the tent with her, she'll use you as a jungle gym - this helps the bonding process as she's practically forced to interact with you and she'll slowly find that Dad's not so bad! To get her back to her cage, I usually bring a cage pouch with me into the tent and start turning on a few lights, which automatically makes them want to seek the shelter of their pouch.

Hope that helps!

Most exotic pets only bond to one person or a type of person. My sugar glider only bonded with me- this was because I liked him and he sensed that, mine hated my husband and would do that grinding noise at him every time he came near because the truth was my husband didn't really like the little creature. He may be bonding to you because he knows your his type of person. Just like with birds and cats- they can sense if you are a bird person or a cat person and will take a liking to you.
If you want him to be okay with your husband have your husband feed, water and clean his cage. By him doing so will give your sugar baby the warmth that he's safe with your husband too.

And NEVER put your sugar glider in a noisy or busy place of a house. Sugar gliders are nervous creatures that when highly stressed are prone to heart attacks. If you want him to be happy place him in a low traffic area such as a office or bedroom next to a window. They are nocturnal creatures but do come out for sunlight about an hour a day- this is because uv rays help their body produce vitamin c and they need that to fight infections.

Hope this helped

Keep it in a busy room in the house where your husbands visits often and it'll enventually get used to him, and baybe even get close and bond.
