Yes, of course. I think I was first given Tylenol with codeine when I was 11 because I got 4 teeth pulled. They killed the pain and made me feel happy. I've had vicodin prescribed may times as well as darvocet, percocet and Oxycontin. Most of these painkillers were prescribed after extensive dental work.
The vicodin didn't do much but kill the pain I was in and make me a little sleepy. It's a great painkiller but if you take it every day, you eventually feel like crap and get a pounding headache if you run out of the pills. I suppose that's addiction. The "extra strength" vicodin just made me nauseous. Darvocet did absolutely nothing, was useless and didn't even get rid of my pain. Percocet wasn't much better. Oxycontin was the only one that really messed me up. When all other pain killers weren't working for me (I had an exposed nerve in my tooth), I took a few too many Oxycontins and I realized I was sitting on my bed, nodding out and beginning to drool a bit. I felt like a junkie. I also was forgetting to breathe and I had to remind myself to take a breath. I was afraid to fall asleep until it wore off a little. I'm a little afraid to take Oxycontin again because it's very obvious I could become addicted to it.
*btw, Klonopin is not an opiate it's a benzodiazepine derivative. It's a minor tranquilizer. I take one every day to control my anxiety and panic attacks. It's not a painkiller.
