If i define something as a fact and believe it to be true and there is no one to tell me any different regarless of whether it is real or not is that a fact because I have established it as a fact based on my percption of reality or is that just my subjective view. e.g. if I see the sea as red instead of blue and I only know the sea is red and there is no one to state any different is that a fact or just my objective view. Is fact just based on the views of the majoity with reasonable judgement being just a global perception of reality until otherwise proven i.e. the majority think it's right so it must be. Can you never state that a fact is actually a fact only that, as applies to theories, a fact is a good fact until disproven.

Yes, in that the "fact" belongs to you based on your interpretation of information. This does not make your "fact" objective. Objectivity requires analysis of many arguments. Arriving at some "truth" requires abstracting information to non emotional data and comparing this data to historical references. The statement "I'm right and everybody else is wrong" may be correct in some crcumstances. That is why history should be used as one guide to interpreting reality.

No because of my personal experience. A doctor told me I could never have children. I now have two wonderful sons. His "fact" was in error. The government has put out "facts" about foods that are bad for you. Then the FDA turns around and contradicts their previous claim. So was their fact a reality? NO.

a fact is 'Knowledge or information based on real occurrences' But just because someone says 'it is a fact' does not necessarily make it a fact anyone can lie or be mistaken. A fact is in fact real and true(not a perception of reality) but all 'facts' are not real facts

Never. I have to perceive a "fact" as true first and I base that on my own perception of reality. @8-)

No. My reality is subjective; I make of factual information what I choose, based on my belief system, education, experience and my emotional need.

I trust in facts but not absolutely, because some of them could turn out to be wrong.

A "fact" is like a theory. It's accepted untill it's disproven.I can accept most things on that basis.

Yes.. If fact were fiction.. It would not be real.. Therefore it would not be a fact.. It's kind of rhetorical in nature when you look at it..
