Because a computer, no matter how powerful it is, needs someone to use it.

Because they're not using it properly.

I've been an ADVOCATE of on-line, FREE schools. Interactive schools where you can pick your teacher, pick the times you want to "go to school" and learn at your own pace within a reasonable framework.

No one wants to do it or finance it.

To be frank, YOU can learn almost ANYTHING you want to on the INTERNET just by Googling or Yahooing.

What would be nice is a 24/7/365 "drop in" teacher you can go to with questions and problems you have with the static web site and info you find.

Taht doesn't exist yet.

There is no "411" for education and there should be.

There should be "education" support like there is Tech support.

It's here to a degree with BLOGS, but you still have to weed through the various postings and wait, sometimes a week, for the answers to appear.

Even with all the technology available at your fingertips, you still spelled "technology" incorrectly. And you made a basic grammatical mistake.. you should have asked:
"Why should we kids go to school when technology is so powerful these days?"

These mistakes you made in this ONE sentence answer why there is still a need for schooling and education. YOU, however, have to take the initiative to learn.

Just one of the reasons home schooling is growing here in the states. The only drawback is the lack of social interaction. If the kids are involved in several extracurricular activities, no prob.
