i'm from toronto canada i'm on maternity leave i will be going back to work in april but my job is laying off a lot of people and i heard once i call to say that i'm going back they are going to lay me off because it already reached me will i get employment i think i won't because i'm using up my hours ?

Yes you can claim for UIC benifits once they lay you off. As long as you had every intention of returning to your job after your maternity leave was finished. They must provide you with seperation papers that you can bring into the UI office.
