A definite yes to the pointless drama, I have seen and heard too much of it among my kids and their friends and contacts. On the other hand, it has been delightful to see them locate old friends, especially friends who had to move away years ago. It's like everything else, I guess, the potential is there for good and bad. With the typical age of the users being what it is, the bad possibly prevails.

This is a great question! In the sixty years since the government started the internet project so they could launch missiles at the USSR during the cold war, it has taken off and become a source for information, communication, and commerce - changing the world in ways we couldn't even imagine back then. No-one will ever approve of every aspect of network technology, but I think generally the world is more accessible now. I'm not sure we will really understand the full ramifications of the information age for many years to come, but I don't think it has fundamentally changed whether or not the world is a "good place". So, I suppose my answer is that I don't think the world would be a better place with OR without the internet!

I think it can be a good way for a teen that is going through a hard time, having issues with parents, school or peers and not feel so alone. Just like anything else on the internet, it has been abused, kids have taken it too far and abusers out there use it prey on young teenagers. Sad a useful tool can turn into something so ugly so fast. Teens need to feel accepted, not alone and are always searching for answers. I can only hope maybe someone will come up with a more positive way for them to do that.

The Amish kids don't use MySpace,
And they seem to turn out okay!
Let's all become Amish
And ride in horse drawn buggies,
With big black bonnets for the gals,
Serious black hats for the guys,
And big thick quilts on the beds,
'Cause there ain't no central heating!
We don't need no MySpace,
'Cause we're A-M-I-S-H now, hurray!
