Cloning was use to replicate dinosaurs for the park. Genes were isolated from ancient blood in mosquitoes caught in Jurassic period tree amber. Genetic engineering was used to fabricate missing genes to complete the genetic code for completing the organisms. One important note is at when the genetic engineers spliced some on the reptile DNA with Amphibian DNA the ability of amphibians to change sex was transferred to the dinosaurs and some of the females became male.

They cloned dinosaurs using DNA extracted from mosquitoes trapped in amber that had fed on dinosaurs. Missing genes were replaced using genes from frog DNA. They also genetically engineered the dinosaurs to be unable to produce the amino acid lysine metabolically, so it had to be administered, presumably to prevent the dinosaurs from living very long if they escaped the island.

They got dinosaur DNA from mosquitos that had been preserved; the blood of the dinosaurs was also preserved inside them. They used this DNA to clone them.

It would never actually work; the DNA would be incomplete, there would be the blood of lots of different dinosaurs in there, etc.

If I remember the story right, they get some dinosaur DNA out of a fossilized egg and go from there. The flaw is that no DNA would exist that long, its not remotely possible it could ever happen.
