Blacks of course are not the only people who eat a lot of chicken. Chicken is an extremely popular meat with all races and nationalities. The reason chicken is popular among black Americans is that chicken and pork were historically the two mainstay meats in the south, where the majority of blacks in the U.S. can trace their roots due to slavery. The popularity of pork and chicken did not result from taste preferences, but from geographical factors such as climate, availability of feed, attributes of the soil, etc. Over time, as transportation allowed a great variety meat and produce to be shipped from region to region and these geographical factors were less relevent, the meats had by then become "traditional" favorites. Still to this day in the South, pork and chicken are favorites, as are other once "regional" foods such as peanuts, sweet potatoes, etc.
If your local college offers a course in Cultural Geography you might want to consider taking it - you will learn the answers to many questions such as yours.

Blacks eat a lot of chicken because its one of the things we grew up w/ like bologna and hotdogs and spam and such. Its a family food. Its convenient and easy to prepare. Plus its nice and greasy. It's flexible. You can have chicken w/ any side dish. U bake it, rotteserie it, make u a sandwich, make it a salad, and of course fry it. It's a food that everyone (at least in a black household) can agree on. Everybody may not like the smell of fish and pizza gets old. But chicken...you can't say no to chicken. Children love it. i dont know anyone of any culture who don't just love chicken. I never get tired of it.

I am not black and I eat a lot of chicken because it is good. Maybe they do for the same reason.

Its good and cheap easy to prepare who doesn't eat chicken .Why do Mexican people eat alot of beans, same thing their good . As long as you eat who gives a crap .

because its delicious! and Americans eat it like that! why do you think Kentucky Fried Chicken is a booming business? because of the blacks? the minorites? nope! its the majorities
