What can I do to make him come home? Are there any cheat codes to get him to come back?

well if it's NOT on pc then.keep going out side ur run away dog MAY pass ur yard if it does go outside & go to it's options it should say bring in stray then He's back if it does'nt buy a phone (if u don't own one)& call the police but before u do look at the options it should say report lost pet keep playing or keep the game on & the cops will bring ur dog back
To prevent it again keeps switching between u & ur pets to see how(clean,hungry,played with,& happy they r)the more they love u & the more u show them love the more they'll stay.I have the game & this works for me EVERY time.

I doubt there are any cheat codes for the PC version...
To stop your dog from running away, keep it happy.
To see your dog after he/she runs away, you should've equipped it with a collar.

your dog comes back after 3 days because it misses its home. or a message will pop up saying you dog has been missing or has died.
