I have been playing games for 5 years or so but I am still a newbie, and I have a weird taste in games. I have a PS2 and I play games on my PC as well but it doesn't have a graphic card so when I play newer games on it I have to run it in the lowest resolution (if I can run it at all).

Recently I cannot find a game that I can play more than 5 hours into it. My personal favorites may not represent the bests from the market. I especially liked Dynasty Warriors 4, FF8, and pretty much any sports games.

Can someone please recommend some good games that you think would suit me? Or some underrated games that have not been very hot?

-no FPS
-PC RTS would be nice, not AOE, WC, or SC though
-I didn't really enjoy GTAs, Devil May Cry's, Okami
-no FFs, but RPGs recs would be nice

P.S. Besides the best selling franchises, what are some of the more underrated but good sports games? (E.G. 2K series instead of Live and Madden, etc)

For sports games, the 2K sports brand is pretty much always better. This especially applies with the NBA games. NBA 2K7 is fantastic. For football, Madden is the only game out there until the new 2K sports football 2K8 comes out (just announced this week). Baseball is a toss-up though...I think neither series from EA Sports or 2K is very special.

For RTS games, definitely give LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth (and LOTR: BFME II)a look. It's a very underrated series.
Have you tried God of War for PS2? Awesome but hard game...maybe the best on the console.

Seriously though, a 360 might be a good way to get to play a lot of PC games that will be coming out. It has a very high-end video card in it, so it will play anything. Since 360 will be getting most PC games, it might be something to give a lot of thought to.

If you are serious about looking for some good RPGs for PC:

If you like character / story development and don't mind reading a lot Planescape Torment is an amazing game - hard to find though, try ebay or second hand bin at local game store.

If you like more action RPGs you could try Diablo 2 (awesome) or Dungeon Siege (pretty 3D graphics but should still run fine on your computer - came out in 2000)

And... if you have never played it, get Baldur's Gate 2 - one of the best games I have ever played and always ranked as one of the best games of all time

Sell your PS2 and get a Wii. PS2 wasn't bad, it's just old now. Wii has a TON of new games coming out very soon. It's also very cheap ($250). I got one and I reccomend looking into these games before you get a Wii, to make sure your money isn't wasted with something you don't want:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Super Mario Galaxy: Sunshine 2
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Mario Party 8
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Pokemon Battle Revolution
Animal Crossing Wii
Mario Kart Wii
Super Paper Mario
Kirby (remake in production)
The Sims 3
Red Steel
Pokemon Box Wii (educated guess)
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

Look into these. Some of these genres have kept me enthralled for years.
