i think the song is all about regret. wishing we could go back and change the things we've done wrong, wishing we were always a little smarter today, not tomorrow.

Wow I've listened to that song many times and don't remember a part about a shoe full of rice.. I guess I'll have to give it another listen.. that does seem pretty corny even for the 90's..

My best guess is its about a couple who loose their virginity to each other... They were only freshmen..... Learning and exploring the sexual world, that they cant be held responsible..... Love and lust....

Not sure...always seemed to me they must've done something very wrong...hurt, raped killed and they now regret it deeply. They mention not being able to help it because "she" was touching her face. So leads me to beleive maybe he/they hurt/raped her.
