Our 3 month old has a blue-ish/purple-ish lump bulging out under her underarm? We're not sure if it's an emergancy or not. Can't find anything on the internet. Any ideas???

If this was my child I wouldnt have even taken the time to pull up the computer chair.. I would have done been in the car and on my way to the ER.

It's probably not an emergency, but it would be good to call your doctor, or a doctor or clinic and speak with someone - e.g., a triage nurse -- about it. If you don't have a doc, look in the yellow pages for an "emergent care" or walk-in type clinic ("doc in a box"). If none of those are possible, you could call the local emergency room and ask them on the phone. Again, if your child is not having any other troubling symptoms, it's probably not an emergency. You just need to be reassured.

Most Pediatric practices have an after hour call system. Simply put in a call and talk to one of the Doctors or nurses that calls you back. If your pediatrician doesn't offer this service, call the ER, they can often advise you on whether you should come in or wait until Monday. I hope your baby is fine.

Could be a bruise of some sort. If there is discomfort and its getting worse then take the baby to the hospital. Better to be safe than sorry.

ASK A DOCTOR
not some idiot on yahoo.... are you seriously trusting your 3 month old baby's health to some anonymous people on the internet????

Seriously a thumbs down already... we're talking about a 3 month old's health... don't trust some idiot on the internet to say it isn't an emergency.. only a doctor can decide that.

Monitor it for now (assuming its small, like pea sized) until you can get her in to the pediatrician on Monday. If it changes at all--gets worse looking, call the doctor on call from your doctors office and describe it to them.
