As many have already said, yes you can add a 2nd hard drive. This will take a little know how. You will have to configure jumpers and format the new drive. The easier selection is to purchase a removable USB storage device. Maxtor is an example of an external drive that you can plug in via a USB cable and move items from the C drive for storage. You can obtain such a drive for less than $150 at a BestBuy or on line at Amazon.com.

You should lay down some restrictions for your 11 year old.
If you are not computer savvy the best thing to do is to take the computer to a store that performs hardware upgrades. Ask them to add a second hard drive. You can tell your son that this is the only hard drive he is allowed to use and must move his games from C: to the new hard drive which should be E:. This is the cheapest way to go. If you replace your current hard disk, the operating system and all of the applications would have to be reinstalled.

sounds like your C drive is almost full with windows program and games just add another hard drive its very simple get alest a 160 to 300 gig hardrive. open case look at the plug where the first one is theres usually a second plug screw it in place put the plug in and restart system windows will reconize the new drive use it as your slave drive for games and etc.<
hard drives are pretty cheap now>>>> almost anyone can do it<<< Sounds like your PC might be slowing down to because of the almost full hard drive. right click on my computer then click on properties it will show you exactly how much space you have left on the C drive>>>>Good LUCK

The only way to upgrade the C drive is to get a larger one and replace the one in it, or if it's already partitioned, wipe it clean and repartion with more space for the "C" drive.
If you have everything on the C drive, you can add an additional drive and move anything that's not system or program required to the new D drive. That may free up enough space for the programs that have to reside on the C drive, but no guarantees.
Good Luck.

You might be able to either get an external hard drive as an add-on, or if it's the games taking up all your space, I would be getting her one of those video game players like Xbox to hook up to flat screen TV which you can get a 27" one for $199 Can. . It would save your computer. I know people who had to get a 120 GB hard drive just so their kids could play games. And, unless you have a mouse that's rated for gaming, you are going to wear yours out. I'd go with the game box + seperate Tv, just for gaming. My daughter had to. She couldn't get near the PC for her 9 yr. old on it gaming !

You may already have a D drive .... many PC hard drives are partitioned into sections by the manufacturer. I would look into that first.
Feel free to email me if you need step by step help.

the acceptable element to do is defragement the hardchronic for the reason that really fragmented not ordinary drives can decelerate your computing gadget. including a sparkling hardchronic may speed issues up merely somewhat yet in a computing gadget that previous you may run into some means complications in case you attempt to operate one. Plus its merely no longer nicely worth it to improve 9 year previous hardware.

Yes you can, you can also have two hard drives if you want to, but you will have to install windows,Linux, or Mac OS, depending on your other hard drives OS.
