Because if they showed the nasty face first, you wouldn't want them as your friend and therefore wouldn't give them anything to talk bad about. By showing the nice face first, the person makes you believe that they are for real, makes you trust them an talk to them, which gives them ammunition to use against you.
Best bet, don't tell anything you don't want anyone else to know especially if you have heard them talk about someone else in a nasty way.

friends that are two faced show the nicest one first because they are trying to gain your trust and so you will have genuine feelings for them even though they don't have any for you. once they feel that they have accomplished this, then they turn to the mean face. they trap you when they do this because it is hard to stop doing things for, supporting, and unattach yourself from the relationship due to your true feelings. they don't care about you becasue they have no feelings. this hurts the honest one in the relationship because they put their trust and faith into someone who they believe will give them the same. unfortunately, this is not always true. you have to be careful who you be friends with these days. it is getting to the point where in order to know if a person is a true friend you almost have to do a background check like employers do for jobs. it should not be this way. people should like someone for who they are not for what they can give them or do for them but let's face it, most people do not believe in this kind of thing anymore. they would rather backstab you as to shake your hand. just be really cautious about who are your friends. remember, you should choose them, they should not choose you. hope this helps. good luck.

Because if they are nice to you, you tell them stuff that they can laugh at behind your back. It is only when the jig is up or they bore of you when they come clean. They are done with fun and games, and they really dont care if you find out or not.
Real friends are not two faced.
Now, there is the exception of the gossip who does not realize they are hurting anyone. THe only way to make them realize is to make them accountable for their actions and dxump them as friends.

If friends are 'too faced' I guess they should chop a bit off.
Seriously though, the only reason you know someone's two faced is because they show you their nice face first, so you like them. Later, they're nasty, and that's when you realise. If, on the other hand they are nasty to you first, they're not your friend. If they are later nice to you, that is when they become your friend, so the previous encounter doesn't count.

They have no balls to tell you something to your face. They have guts to only talk behind your back. I would NOT put someone like this into a category called friends. Lose them if they are this way.
You are losing NOTHING anyway.

To gain your confidence and trust, then use the knowledge they have gained from you to turn against you, manipulating for their own means. You'll find they don't keep the same friends for long and tend to move from circle to circle - usually attaching to one in particular before they pounce!
