The process of embalming begins with draining the body of all bodily fluid and then replacing it with embalming fluid, usually formaldehyde, to stave off decomposition.

I can answer based on perosnal experience. Yes, the body will bloat continualy until a "critical mass" of sorts is reached, at which point, again yes, explosion will occur. I have not physically witnessed the process with my own eyes, but I have beheld the gruesome image that is the end result of such a process. I won't go into details, but recently a friend and I had the misfortune of being forced to deal with a body that would not have a funeral much less any sort of embalming or preparations typical of those performed by a mortician. Well the burial itself was a real rustic occasion, out in the midst of a densely forested area, shallow as well. Anyways, long story short, my friend was out there a week or so afterwards, (it's become a ritualistic type site for us) and saw that the earth above the body appeared to have been disturbed and there was a God awful stench emanating from it. When we returned together to deal with the situation I observed the effects of the process which you are inquiring about.

Part of the process of being embalmed, which they do at the mortuary home (prior to burial), is the draining of all blood from the body and the addition of certain preservative chemicals.

They drain your blood and replace with embalming fluid, add makeup to give you color, and sometimes they take your organs out of your body cavity, makes yu last longer for viewing. they wash yur body and trim yur nails and do yur hair up pretty.cut the back out of yur good suit to lay it over ur body as yu are getting to stiff to move around? then they keep yu in a cooler till they need yu to show up for the big party!! then yu get to ride in the Caddy!oh yeah be sure yu got a lot of money? average about 7000 bucks?

Stomach-turning question, but, yes. Although a body will not "explode", it will bloat to a grotesquely, almost unrecognizable state.
