Mt. Everest is the highest point above sea water and that is in Asia.

Cant really have a superlative like highest and median like average and it be the same. Some of the answers given may be right for average height, but with Mount Everest, Asia is the highest. Sealevel to peak height. HOWEVER - in Hawaii, one of the volcanoes Mauna Loa I think, is taller from base (on bottom of sea bed) to its peak than Everest is tall above sea level, thus Hawaii being our state, we have highest continent.

Antarctica. It's nearly all ice cap, average height about 9000 feet above sea level. But the rocky continent is very low lying. The weight of the ice has pushed some of it below sea level. Then there's Africa which is mostly a plateau, average height 4000 feet above sea level.
