In terms of the universe, I suppose it is gravity that holds everything together. Your question is kind of vague.
Parts can be held together by hinges, bolts, nails, velcro, superglue, but I suspect that is not the answer you are looking for. lol

first i hope you mean this question physically and not metaphorically.

yes I agree with the above answer, gravity pulls all parts of all things towards themselves. ie; every spec of matter pulling every other spec until it gets some shape (usually a round ball).
also, physicists talk about some diferent types of forces (different from gravity) like weak nuclear force, and strong nuclear force, and who knows what they are discovering. research these two forces and you may get closer to your answer.
