I wish I knew the answer to that!
Is he just a too quiet of a guy, not a media hog like Michael Irvin??
Is he not flashy enough like Deion Sanders??
Fact is that Art Monk should be in the HOF, period, end of discussion!!!

He must have upset the "HOF Induction Committee" which is a group of 40 self-serving journalists. One selected to "represent" each city that has an NFL franchise and an additional 8 others who are selected by some means or another.
So since his stats are not the issue, see the link below, he obviously is in someone's doghouse. (for a special treat you can even compare them with Michael Irvin's who was selected into HOF today)

He was never THE receiver on the great Redskin teams. He was for a long time a great 2nd and 3rd option, but never THE guy.
One of his SB rings, he got based on being on the team, but did not play due to injury.
Gary Clark was more THE guy for the Redskins.
Monk was only selected to the pro bowl twice (he went a third time, as a replacement). For all the years he played, only twice did his contemporaries think he was one of the best in a given year?
He was very good, but a Hall of Famer? I don't think so.

No player changed the game of football as much as Hayes.
Why did Michael Irving get in Bob Hayes didn't?

Oh yeah, I remember him - Redskins, right? Well, how are his stats? He played a long time - but there are also a lot of famous players who never make it to the Hall of fame....and then there are some notorious players who do...Michael Irvin just recently...

He didn't do anything, they just needed to save some great players for next year. He is going to get in, he deserves it.
