At least some of the profits from The Dark Side of the Moon were given to Monty Python as funds for Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The members of Pink Floyd were reportedly huge Monty Python fans, to the point of interrupting recording sessions to watch the Flying Circus.
On most CD pressings, a barely-audible orchestral version of The Beatles' "Ticket to Ride" is audible after "Eclipse", playing very faintly over the heartbeats that close the album. It is unknown why this was included, but it was probably the consequence of a mastering error. The bootleg recording A Tree Full of Secrets includes an amplified, re-processed version of this oddity, which allows it to be heard clearly.

An interesting question indeed!
It is apparent that lyrics within the songs of Pink Floyd are somewhat hard to interpret because of the emotional nature of their expressions. That said, many of us are affected in different ways because of our own pathway in life - past & present.
One of their most known songs 'Comfortably Numb', I assume would have impact on many - particularly those of us that have been through a matter of trauma. My thought is that during that time many may be inclined to use a 'substance' to help erase that traumatic experience, which most often leads many of us to becoming 'UNcomfortably Numb'!
From a personal point-of-view I have reasons (that are somewhat inexplicable) to admire the depth of Pink Floyd. For reasons that I shan't explain, after an horrendous injury that had me in a coma for a lengthy period, I continuously played that song (...and their others) in the background until (thankfully!) I no longer had the inclination to be 'numb'. To refer further to lyrics of other performers (eg 'America'), my hope for all that suffer emotional experiences are to be able to leave being in 'The Desert on a Horse with no Name' as past-tense - hopefully finding 'A Bridge over Troubled Waters'!
Once we reach the point that we no longer need to dwell on 'UNcomfortable' hindsight, we find that 'bridge' DOES exist - for EACH of us.

If you play the last chapter of the DVD "2001: A Space Odyssey" with Echos from Meddle they match up. supposedly Pink Floyd was going to do the whole score but Kubrik changed his mind.

They played a concert in England in front of a fountain with fish in it. The music killed every one of those fish. :-)
