You would think that with his myriad super powers, the Man of Steel would achieve almost instantaneous victory. However the Bat is a master strategist and he fights dirty. Besides, he has kryptonite.
It seems like every time these two mix it up, the writer makes the Bat come out on top as an example of "good" or "clever" writing. It's a great gimmick and occasionally it works well, but having the Dark Knight cast as the most dangerous character in the whole DC universe is a little too much irony for me. I mean, Hal Jordan dropped him with one punch. One punch!

Wasn't there a storyline that answered this question in the batman graphic novels? I think batman would win. Superman has a lot of powers for sure but that's all he has to rely on. Without them, he's just a naive boy who's not in touch with reality. Batman has no powers and has had to learn to do without them. He's lead a really rough life that has taught him much. He has no problem using less than decent methods to win a fight. I think superman would be expecting a fair fight and would be surprised by what batman does and unable to react in time to win.

relies upon on if Batman has kryptonite or not. contained in the comics many years in the past, Lex Luthor wore a kryptonite ring to save Superman remote from him. Superman ultimately entrusted this to Batman, so as that if Superman were ever ideas-managed or something, Batman ought to take him down. If Batman can use this, he wins. If not, Batman ought to submit a stunning good strive against, yet Superman ought to ultimately be triumphant.

Superman would win in a fight with Batman as Batman has no actual powers. Batman, however, has a treasure trove of gadgets, but they are no match to Superman's super strength, x-ray vision and super speed.

I will definitely place my bet with superman hands down...... because batman has no special powers he can't even fly not off course if you uses some of his gadgets. while superman uses no such gadgets at all he uses his super powers to fight. The only problem is superman's achilles heel and that is kryptonite. if batman uses that i think he would have a chance in defeating him.

batman! Because batman is smart and driven. He would just carry some kryptonite on him while he fought superman. maybe even make kryptonite weapons. The only way superman would win is if batman was dumb and didnt take him back to his batcave and keep him frozen with some kryptonite in him for the rest of time

Clearly Superman.
Batman has toys .... wonderful toys, but Superman has Superpowers. He can fly, bullets bounce off of him etc etc.
Batman gets wounded by metal claws on catwoman's hands.
This is of course assuming that Batman doesn't get ahold of kryptonite, in which case Superman would be reduced to a little wuss.

this is a great debate - where the un-informed answerer may simply choose superman based on his overwhelming stregth and powers, they forget on minor detail. batman is clever. so clever in fact that he would easily be able to determine superman's greatest weakness - kryptonite (red or green). batman utilizes his surroundings and makes great use of the tools availble to him. it would be no surprise to learn that if batman knew he was going to do battle with superman he would have adequetely prepared by bringing some form of krytonite. once having depowered superman, batman would use his vast array of fighting prowess and easily out match superman in a equal fight being that superman relies heavily on his super powers and has not taken the time to perfect actual hand to hand combat techniques. in a fair fight, with both being equal batman would destroy superman. yet this is heavily dependent on the use of kryptonite

I think it would be a draw.Yes,Superman has super powers, but Batman uses his brain, and I think he would come up with a way to keep from getting hurt by Superman.

Superman has superhuman strength and powers. Batman is just an ordinary human with a lot of gadgets.
